Review methodology
This page is the standard every AdultNav rating must meet. It describes how a score is allowed to come into existence — it does not retroactively bless any existing number. Until a listing has been assessed under this methodology, its overall rating stays hidden and is marked not verified everywhere it would otherwise appear.
What a score is — and is not
A score is a dated, evidence-backed judgement of specific dimensions of a service, produced under the rules on this page. It is not a summary of impressions, not an average of other sites' reviews, and never a paid placement.
Today, no listing on AdultNav carries a score produced under this methodology. Legacy fields in our data that look like ratings are treated as unverified and are not displayed, sorted by, or used in comparisons anywhere.
Evidence requirements
- Official sources first. Pricing, cancellation, refund and privacy statements come from the service's own pages (pricing, help, terms, privacy), captured with an access date into our evidence store.
- Hands-on observations are dated. Anything only observable inside the product (ad load, player behaviour) requires a documented session with a date; undated impressions do not count.
- Reader tips are never the sole basis. A tip can trigger a re-check; it cannot change a published fact on its own.
- We do not enter checkout flows. A price that exists only behind a payment wall stays “not verified” rather than being copied from third-party review sites.
Scoring method
Each dimension is judged only from the evidence collected for it. The exact numeric aggregation into an overall score will be fixed on this page before the first score is published; until then no overall score exists. Dimensions without evidence are excluded — they do not lower a score, they prevent one from being computed.
Missing and conflicting data
- Not verified: the value is shown with that label or hidden entirely; it takes no part in scoring, sorting or comparison verdicts.
- Conflicting: when two sources disagree, both values are kept on record with their sources, the field is marked conflicting, and nothing is guessed.
- Stale: a verified fact that has not been re-checked for 180 days drops to “possibly out of date” until re-checked.
When re-checks happen
Our collection pipeline detects changes on official pages it has captured before; every detected change lands in a human review queue before any published fact changes. Reader reports, pricing-model changes and the 180-day rule also trigger re-checks. There is no automatic overwriting of published conclusions.
Independence
Ratings are editorial. Current commercial relationships — today: no affiliate agreements in effect — are stated in the disclosure on the About page and in every page footer.
